What is a VPS ?

VPS stands for Virtual Private Servers. VPS is an isolated server we refer to as a Node that uses virtualization software to create private servers to share the hardware of a single physical server and performs like a stand-alone server where you can run your own applications. You have full root access, environment isolation, and it can be rebooted independently. A VPS has its own memory, disk space, processes, ports, and everything you would expect from a dedicated server.

What is OpenVZ?

OpenVZ is the VPS technology created which allow us to create isolated VPS servers on the single physical server. Think of it as the operating system for the Node itself. You can install and change your own OS (Operating sytem) within your VPS at any time without any affect to the Node itself.

What are the advantages of a VPS ?

VPS gives you the functions and features and of a managed dedicated server but without the price. You have full control of your VPS including full root access to install your own applications not viable on a shared hosting environment. Since a VPS is an isolated hosting environment it allows you more freedom to run scripts that aren't allowed on a shared hosting environment such as sending out a mailing list and since you get your own mail server you don't have to worry about other users blacklisting the mail server ip, it allows you to create reseller accounts if you are a reseller, and more.

What is the difference between a VPS and shared hosting?

VPS is an isolated environment with your own resources whereas in a shared hosting environment the server resources are shared among all accounts on the server. In a shared environment you are restricted to use the features enabled by your provider whereas in a virtual isolated private environment you are free to disable/enable features suitable for your website.

What is guaranteed and burst memory (RAM) ?

Guaranteed memory is the amount of memory allocated to your VPS which you can use up to at any time. Burst allows your VPS to use more than your guaranteed memory as long as the memory is available to use up to the burst limit.

How do I manage my VPS?

Our VPS hosting plans come with SolusVM, a vps management platform that helps you maintain your own environment. If you need additional features and a full web interface to control any aspect of your server you can purchase WebHost Manager (WHM)/cPanel for just $8.50/mo.
SolusVM allows you to start/stop your VPS. Monitor your VPS resource utilization, restarting a service, view disk space, backup/restore your VPS, and reinstall your VPS.

cPanel/WHM is a hosting administration control panel. It allows you the manage and create hosting accounts in your VPS. Some functions you can perform include create and manage all hosting accounts, limit accounts disk space, bandwidth, email accounts, email all accounts, change account passwords, check server status.

Functions include create/remove email accounts and forwarders, view website stats via AWstats, view account information such as bandwidth usage, manage domains, subdomains, parked domains, manage and create mysql databases, add/remove FTP accounts, use advanced tools such as cron jobs, hotlink protection, access to pre-installed scripts such as Fantastico.

How long does it take to activate my account once ordered?

Most accounts are setup within 15 minutes of receiving your payment. This is not the same as from the time you order unless you paid during the order process. If you are mailing a check/money order or sending your payment via other means that aren't instant we will begin processing your order the moment your payment is received.

Are VPS accounts backed up as part of your service?

No, but we do offer a backup service you can addon that is very affordable and powered by R1soft enterprise backups. We do recommend that every client have backups of any data they deem important or essential to their website, business, or life.

Do you provide any management services with modVPS plans?

No, but our sister company JaguarPC specializes in Managed VPS Hosting.

What is your money back guarantee policy?

We will refund your money within 45 days of purchase if you decide to cancel for any reason. This does not mean if your account has been terminated for abuse. Abuse may incur additional charges to clean up. Don't do anything wrong or illegal and we will give your money back, pretty simple.

What type of payments do you accept?

We accept Visa, Master card, American Express, Discover, Checks, and Money Orders. We will be adding Google checkout, AlertPay, and 2checkout shortly.

Can I contact support for anything?

Yes, actually for anything. We are proactive in updating and monitoring all our systems, so we will notice an issue before clients. Our service only goes so far as the Node itself, the server your VPS is on. While our onnly obligation is to the maintain the main server node, we do have a vast experience in other areas all related to hosting. Do you allow Torrents, IRC's, VPN's, and Proxies?

Yes, for now but this may change if we begin to see abuse.

Do I get Root access to my server?

Yes.

I am currently with a reseller provider and want to offer reseller accounts. Can I create reseller accounts with a VPS?

Yes you can. You will get root access and adding software such as cPanel/WHM makes those tasks much simplier. With cPanel you can create reseller accounts just as you would on a dedicated server.

Do you offer an uptime guarantee?

Yes we offer a 99.9% uptime SLA guarantee on the Network and VPS hardware node the contains your VPS. As long as you can reach the network, the server, and SolusmVM management software we have done our part. What goes inside your VPs is up to you.
